Mercury or Buddha

What is Mercury in Vedic Astrology?

Briefly explained straight from my heart!

Mercury is all about intellect and communication, the natural AmatyaKaraka (the significator of our actions in the world). Mercury is the young prince who is agile, full of life and witty humor. Mercury is also the karaka of management. The princely nature of Mercury manifests itself in effective communication, management, presence of mind, humor, intellect, education, psychology and thought pattern. Mercury gets highly influential when conjunct with or aspected by other stronger planets like Jupiter & Saturn. On the other hand when, Sun or Venus are conjunct with Mercury, they make it strong and well-balanced. If you have a powerful Mercury in your natal birth chart then you are likely to be a lifelong learner. People with stronger Mercury develop excellent communication skills and are good in counseling others & leading others. It will always keep the child alive in you. A week or afflicted Mercury affects our childhood in certain ways that we don’t want to remember the experiences. Mercury is the day lord of Wednesday. The best remedy to strengthen the Mercury in your chart is to stay active and listen to other people by leveraging communication and being a part of it. Un-learn, learn and re-learn for life as, continuous learning is the key.

Here are some insight on its relationships and rulership. It is friends with Venus, Saturn, Sun & Rahu It is neutral towards Jupiter, Mars & Ketu It has enmity with Moon Mercury rules the sign of Virgo and Gemini Mercury is exalted in the sign of Virgo and gets debilitated in the sign of Pisces Mercury is the yogkaraka (favorable and important plane) for Taurus, Gemini, Virgo, Libra, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius & Pisces ascendants. Mercury aspects the 7th house from itself. Mercury is the natural significator of the 10th house in the Chart.

Hi Mel, you have 4 graha conjunction or a stellium in your 8th house that creates confusion related to matters of this house and constantly brings challenges in life and restlessness. Though Mercury is getting neechanga but, also affliction being in the Ra-Ke axis. Mercury is the only planet that does very well in the 8th house but, in your case there could be other factors that dont support. The supporting grahas for you are Mars, Sun and Jupiter that should be further strengthened if needed. If you think Mercury is not helping then, perhaps some other planet will and its important to identify that right one which will support.
