Mars or Mangal What is Mars in Vedic Astrology?

Briefly explained straight from my heart!

Mars is all about energy and courage, the natural BhratriKaraka (the significator of our younger siblings, courage and abilities). Mars and Earth are like two siblings who have grown apart and that’s the science behind it. Mars is hence the karaka of siblings. Mars is the commander who has the highest energy amongst all the planets. Hence, whenever in a planetary war, Mars always wins regardless of its state and position. Mars is highly misunderstood planet in terms of misconceptions around the state of being a Manglik. The energetic nature of Mars manifests itself in high commander attitude, aggressiveness, powerful position, goal orientation and a never giving up attitude.

If you have a powerful Mars in your natal birth chart then, it helps you achieving all the goals that you set in life. It makes you full of valour and a hardworking individual who will forever put efforts in every aspect of life. It is also a significator of cuts, bruises, accidents and ulcers. They are a part of life anyway. Mars is the day lord of Tuesday. The best remedy to strengthen the Mars in your birth chart is having an active lifestyle by going for a run/walk, exercise, yoga or working out in the gym or anything else that keeps you active. Giving up is not the criteria of Mars.

Here are some insight on its relationships and rulership. It is friends with Jupiter, Sun, Moon, Venus & Ketu It is neutral towards Saturn & Rahu It has enmity with Mercury Mars rules the sign of Aries and Scorpio Mars is exalted in the sign of Capricorn and gets debilitated in the sign of Cancer Mars is the yogkaraka (favorable and important planet) for Aries, Cancer, Leo, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius & Pisces ascendants. Mars aspects the 4th, 7th & 8th house from itself. Mars is the natural significator of the 3rd house in the Chart. The misconceptions around Mars tends to scare people due to its natural malefic nature but, remember that Mars is ‘Mangal’ which means ‘Auspicious’
