This is following my recent post that it is important to analyze placement of Mercury for Mars ruled ascendants i.e for Aries and Scorpio. Similarly, it is important to analyze Mars’s placement for Mercury ruled ascendants i.e Gemini and Virgo. 

Why is this important to understand?

Let us understand this in a simple manner: 

• Aries ascendant – Mercury rules 3rd and 6th house
• Scorpio ascendant – Mercury rules 8th and 11th house 
• Gemini ascendant – Mars rules 6th and 11th house
• Virgo ascendant – Mars rules 3rd and 8th house
• There are two things in common:

1. They both rule one or two of the trishadhaya houses i.e 3,6,11 (for Aries & Gemini) for each other along with the 8th house (for Scorpio & Virgo)

2. Both Mercury and Mars are inimical to each other. 

Hence, they become potent malefics for each other’s ascendants and are likely to harm the house they are placed in. Of course, other factors must be considered while making a thorough assessment of the entire horoscope. Many factors can negate the evil effects.

As per BPHS, the Trishadhayas (3,6,11) houses are considered malefic and any planet owning the 3rd, 6th or 11th house will give evil effects. Ownership of two trishadhaya houses at the same time becomes a double whammy!

The Bhagvat Gita states: Chapter 16 Verse 21

त्रिविधं नरकस्येदं द्वारं नाशनमात्मन: |

काम: क्रोधस्तथा लोभस्तस्मादेतत्त्रयं त्यजेत्

tri-vidhaṁ narakasyedaṁ dvāraṁ nāśhanam ātmanaḥ

kāmaḥ krodhas tathā lobhas tasmād etat trayaṁ tyajet

tri-vidham—three types of; narakasya—to the hell; idam—this; dvāram—gates; nāśhanam—destruction; ātmanaḥ—self; kāmaḥ—lust; krodhaḥ—anger; tathā—and; lobhaḥ—greed; tasmāt—therefore; etat—these; trayam—three; tyajet—should abandon

Which translates to:

There are three gates leading to the hell of self-destruction for the soul—lust, anger, and greed. Therefore, all should abandon these three.

Lust – 3rd house

Anger – 6th house

Greed – 11th house

Now you can apply the same for remedies which will work to reduce the evil effects in a chart for Aries, Gemini, Virgo and Scorpio ascendants. There placement in the varga charts can’t be neglected and if giving bad effects then, specific vedic and life remedies are must. Please also note that a well placed,  strong and positively influenced Mercury or Mars for the respective ascendants can potentially do very well too in the matters of communication, learning, wealth, competition, occult, research, gains and possessions. 

Important: This can be applied to Jupiter and Venus for each other’s ascendants i.e Taurus, Libra, Sagittarius and Pisces.
